METEOREX 2008 - Earth Remote Sensing and Hydrometeorological Hardware/Software exposition

Hm, got to know that i *probably* will be employed at METEOREX exposition organization as an assistant from Main Geophysical Observatory.



From 27 to 29 of November in LenExpo, Saint-Petersburg METEOREX 2008, "The Exhibition of Meteorological Instruments, Related Equipment and Services", will be held. Along with it there will be "The Earth Remote Sensing conference and exhibition" and TECO, "The WMO Technical Conference on Meteorological and Environmental Instruments and Methods of Observation".

I expect there will be all kinds of stuff related to environment observations addressed to operative and research tasks.

The organizers are:

* WMO (The World Meteorological Organization);
* Roscosmos (Federal Space Agency);
* Roshydromet (Federal Service on Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring)

The general theme of TECO will be cooperation among the WMO member countries, as well as standartization.

At the METEOREX the whole lot of different issues will be presented: hydrometeorological information and observation systems for the natural disasters prediction and monitoring, for decision makers, safety issues, etc.

I am really looking forward to the Earth Remote Sensing part, which will be organized by Roscosmos. Mainly it will be concentrated on geostationary and low-orbit satellite systems, provision of information for online monitoring, climate modelling and validation complexes. And the cream de la cream topic will be "Implementation of Earth Remote Sensing in preparing the Sochi Winter Olympic Games in 2014". Here is the list of all themes. I hope it will be a great chance to find out what Roscosmos "is cooking" for the meteorological community and maybe one will have a chance to talk to Roscosmos people right there on the spot.
